Each hanging has three magenta lotuses and a gold elephant, strung on pearl and bead strings and finished with gold filigree beads, latkans and ghungroo bells. The lotuses and the elephant are cut to shape and worked by hand in zari embroidery.
Hang one on each side of the door, with the elephants facing in. The lotus is Lakshmi's seat, and elephants stand beside her in Gaja Lakshmi imagery, which is why this pair is a favourite for Diwali, housewarmings and pooja doors.
These are side hangings, not a toran for the top of the door. For a full doorway, pair them with the Mangal Mayura Bandhanwar Toran across the top.
Length: 33.5 in (85 cm) each
Material: Zari-embroidered brocade with pearl and bead strings, gold filigree beads, latkans and ghungroo bells
Pieces: Set of 2, one for each side of the door
Care: Dry clean only
Collection: Prasanaakshi by Life n Colors
Country of Origin: Made in IndiaBecause each hanging is handcrafted, no two are exactly alike. Small variations in embroidery and finish are part of the work.
-
Each piece is hand-finished by our artisans in India. Depending on the design, that means velvet appliqué with zari embroidery, metal coins and ghungroo bells, or brocade and jacquard panels edged with hand-gathered ruffles. Small variations from piece to piece are part of the craft.
-
Handling: Hold the piece by its cord or rod, not by the embroidered motifs, coins or ruffles.
Cleaning: Dry clean only. Avoid water, spot cleaners, or steam — moisture can tarnish zari and metal coins.
Dusting: Brush away dust gently with a soft, dry brush.
Storage: Between festivals, wrap loosely in tissue paper and store flat, away from damp. Don't stack heavy items on top.
-
Torans: Fix a small hook or nail at each top corner of the door frame and hang the toran from its end loops, so it drapes evenly across the top of the doorway.
Side hangings: Hang each piece from its top loop on a small hook or nail, one on either side of the door, at the same height so the pair lines up.
Wall fans: Rest the hanging rod on a small hook or nail, or on two hooks set at the width of the rod. Hang it at eye level, or above a bed, mandir or console.
Adjust: Settle the coins, bells or ruffles by hand so they fall evenly.

Every piece is hand-finished by our artisans — embroidery, coin and bell work or ruffles finished by hand. Because each piece is made for you, we're unable to accept returns or cancellations once an order is placed.
Exchanges are considered only where a piece arrives damaged or incorrect — write to us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs and we'll set it right.
A note on colour: Our images are shot in a studio under controlled lighting. Handcrafted pieces carry small variations in thread, embroidery and finish — that's the nature of the craft, not a flaw. Colour will also read differently under daylight, warm bulbs and evening light.

They are detailed, but made to be used: secure stitching and firmly attached coins, bells and trims. Handle them by the cord or rod and they will see you through many festive seasons.
We recommend indoor or covered doorways. Rain, direct sun and damp can fade velvet and tarnish zari and metal coins.
